Krypton successfully delivered the full refurbishment of The Freemasons Pub in Cheshunt, transforming a once-closed venue into a fully operational and compliant venue. The works were completed within a fast-track programme to ensure the venue could reopen to the public as quickly as possible.
Krypton successfully delivered the full refurbishment of The Freemasons Pub in Cheshunt, transforming a once-closed venue into a fully operational and compliant venue. The works were completed within a fast-track programme to ensure the venue could reopen to the public as quickly as possible.
Project Profile
The refurbishment involved a full internal strip-out followed by a comprehensive package of mechanical, electrical, and decorative upgrades. Works included the installation of a new fire alarm system, plumbing upgrades to restore running water, new sanitaryware in both WCs, and the fitting of 10 new internal doors.
We also installed a new cellar cooling unit to maintain correct barrel storage temperatures and applied decorative upgrades throughout, including a scaffold board fascia to the bar front.
Externally, Krypton undertook roof replacement works and associated variations to ensure the building envelope was fully watertight and compliant.
Challenge & Solution
With a tight reopening deadline, early planning and coordination were essential. Krypton held pre-start meetings with the client to confirm sequencing, prioritise procurement, and align key trades for concurrent working. Close collaboration between site teams and suppliers allowed us to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.
Through proactive communication and structured management, the project was completed on time and handed back ready for reopening.

The works involved removal of furniture and floor finishes before we undertook mechanical and electrical works and reinstalled the floor, wall and ceiling finishes. We also undertook a sympathetic restoration package to the bar joinery and cornicing within the building.
Whilst we were progressing with the internal fit out works, Krypton also undertook façade restoration works to prevent water ingress issues followed by decorations and LED lighting upgrades.
